What a field guide is for

Langkawi App is an independent editorial field guide for Pulau Langkawi. Every listing has been visited unannounced by an editor who paid for their order. Base listing inclusion cannot be bought. There are tools that tell you what businesses exist on Langkawi. Google Maps, aggregator sites, hotel concierge cards — all useful, all incomplete. They answer what is here. They do not answer what is worth going to.

A list is not a guide

A list indexes everything. A guide selects. Selection requires judgment, and judgment requires showing up.

Why Langkawi

Pulau Langkawi is small enough to cover properly and varied enough to need curation: five distinct areas, a mix of resort coast and village life, and a tourism economy that rewards the places with marketing budgets over the places with better food.

Someone should document what is actually good. That is what this guide is for.
