The experience
Century Langkasuka is the resort for the moment you step off the plane and still want the sea. It sits on Jalan Kuala Muda in Padang Matsirat, about 1.5 km from Langkawi International Airport, on 13 acres of grounds facing a long stretch of sand.
The pool is the heart of the place: an Olympic-sized infinity pool and a children’s pool, both looking out to the water. The private beach is wide enough for a kite, a game of volleyball, or a chair and a sunset. If you want to be on the water, the resort also keeps kayaks, and there are ATV rides on the grounds.
When you are hungry, Matsirat Restaurant serves Malaysian and international cooking, including fresh seafood, indoors or on the terrace. It is open every day from 7am to 10.30pm. From here, Cenang, Kuah, and the island’s bigger sights are a drive away, so this works well as a first night or a quiet base.
