Langkawi became Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Global Geopark in 2007. Kilim Geoforest Park is its mangrove-and-karst jewel — the only place in Malaysia where coastal karst and mangrove ecosystems sit side by side, on rocks of the Setul Formation laid down roughly 490–370 million years ago.

Kilim Geoforest Park occupies the northeast of Langkawi Island, centred on the Kilim River and its mangrove–karst mosaic.

Getting there

Kilim River Tourist Jetty, northeast Langkawi. From Kuah Jetty: Persiaran Putera (Route 110), then Ayer Hangat Road (Route 112) — turn right after Galeri Perdana toward the jetty (~650 m). From the airport, use maps to Kilim Geoforest Park Tourist Jetty. Taxis, vans and rental cars are widely available island-wide.
